Microsoft Outlook, although it comes as a part of the Office suite of applications, it is also available as a standalone program. If you are planning to install Microsoft Outlook 2010 or 2013 in your system, you can follow these instructions provided by the Outlook help technicians:
- In the first step, you need to click on the Start menu followed by the Control Panel option.
- Now, you can go to the User Accounts category, if you are running Windows XP or else the Control Panel search box. Now, search for the Mail icon and then double-click it. Now, you would see the Mail Setup option being displayed.
- Next, you need to click on the E-mail Accounts button to open the Email Accounts screen. Here, for adding a new account, click on the New button. You would see the Auto Account Setup Settings screen being opened.
- Next, in the Auto Account Settings screen, you need to enter the information. For E-mail Account radio button: Selected. Now, enter your name, email address as well as the password.
- Now, you can click on Next button to allow Outlook to connect to the Exchange email server.
- According to the Outlook help support, you would get a message from Outlook if you have entered your information correctly. Once you get the message successfully from Outlook, go ahead and click on the Finish button.
- Here, you would see a dialog box that would mention By adding a Microsoft Exchange account you have changed where some of your new e-mail messages and calendar information is saved. These changes will take effect the next time you start Outlook.
- Once you get such a dialog box, you need to click on OK. This would help you to return to the E-mail Accounts screen.
- In the next step, you can click on the Close option and then return to the Mail Setup – Outlook screen.
- Again, click on Close to return to Windows.
- Once you have created an account, you can try sending a test email from your Exchange 2010 account to and from another email account. This would ensure that you have setup the email account correctly in Outlook.
