Removing ASK.com From Your Search Preferences

The main function of a toolbar is to act as an add-on that helps the users to browse through the internet easily. Ask toolbar is such an add-on that was developed by the popular search engine Ask.com and the main function of the toolbar is to provide search results from the site. If you have the Ask toolbar installed on your web browser, you will be able to get search result from the ask.com site right from the browser home page. Installing the toolbar will change the default search engine of the browser to ask.com and your home page will be set to ask.com.

If you are a regular user of the ask.com, you will feel at home installing the toolbar. However if you do not use the ask.com service much, then it will become a nuisance over time. One of the greatest disadvantages of a toolbar is that it slows down the browser by taking up much needed random access memory or RAM. So you might consider Ask toolbar removal. You can remove the toolbar manually or by using a toolbar removal program. However sometimes even after Ask toolbar removal, you might see that the homepage and search engine preference are still set to ask.com. Here we discuss how users can remove it from their browser and set it to default.

Removing From Firefox
  • Open the web browser by double clicking on its icon found in the desktop. When the web browser appears on the screen, look for the search box in the browser window and then click on the small arrow found in the search box. A drop down menu will appear on the screen, select the option labeled as Manage Search Engines. 
  • You will be able to see all the search engines incorporated with the browser, select the search engine that you would like to make default by clicking on it and then click on the option labeled as Make default. 
  • Now for changing the ask.com from the home page of the browser, click on the Options tab found in the Firefox menu located at the top left corner of the browser. From the window that appears on the screen, delete Ask.com from the default homepage option and set a new web page of your choice. 
If you follow the simple instructions given above, you will be able to remove Ask toolbar and all its components from your web browser easily.
