Getting Rid Of The Malware Toolbars And Resetting Your IE Explorer

You always come across many web links online asking you to download some toolbar or other useful tool. Many of us click on these links without realising that these are malware applications and they will only slow down the browser performance.

We all know how to remove a toolbar from the browser. But, the malware toolbar falls into a different category. These toolbars are designed to hijack the browser and change its settings without your permission. This will result in your browser opening some unwanted websites every now and then.

This can be very annoying when you are in the middle of some important work and are looking to find some relevant information online. The toolbar might take you a different website every time you type web address into the browser bar.

Removing the malware toolbar from IE

So, how to remove a toolbar that has hijacked your browser? Unfortunately, this involves resetting your browser application. You have to uninstall the browser add-on, remove the toolbar application, and then reset the browser application. Only then, can you get rid of this browser toolbar completely.

For disabling or uninstalling a toolbar in IE browser, you have to go to the Add-ons manager section in the application. You will find the add-ons manager option in the Tools menu. Click on the Tools button on your IE menu bar and on the expanded tools menu, click on the Manage Add-ons option to launch the add-ons manager.

There, under the Toolbars and Extensions option, you will find the list of add-ons and toolbars installed in IE. Select this toolbar and use the Disable or Remove option you find there, to remove the toolbar from the browser menu. When you use the Disable option, you can later Enable the browser and bring it back to the browser menu.

After this, go to the system Control Panel. Click on the option Add or Remove Programs and find the application for the malware toolbar you want to remove. Select this option and click on the Remove button to uninstall this application from the system.

Now, go to your IE browser. The malware browser application must have changed your homepage settings, default search engine, etc in the browser. Resetting the browser is the best way to revert these settings to the default values.

These steps will remove the toolbar effectively from the system. Make sure to follow them to the letter.
