Installing Windows updates can sometimes lead to various Microsoft problems. Here are some guidelines that you can follow to resolve the update problems in a Vista computer.
Instructions to follow
• First of all, click on the “Start” button located in the lower left corner of your Windows desktop screen, in order to launch the Start Menu. Go to the “All Programs” section in order to view the list of programs that are installed on the system. Click on the “Windows Update” button, and then choose the “Change Settings” option that is displayed in the box.
• Check whether you have previously set the option to “Never check for updates”. If that is the case, turn on the Windows Updates, by choosing any other option displayed in the box.
• Make sure that you have accepted the Microsoft Software License Terms. Click on the “Start” button displayed in the bottom left corner of your screen and then click on the “All Programs” option in the Start Menu. Select the “Windows Update” option from the list of programs, and check whether any error messages are displayed on the screen. If the error message shown is regarding the license terms, click on the “Try Again” button and then accept the terms of license.
• Click on the “Start” button once again and then select the “Computer” option. Move the cursor toward each hard drive partition, and then right click on them. Choose the “Properties” option and then check the amount of free and used space displayed on the screen. Since you will want to store the updates to a folder in the “C:”drive, it will be enough if you check the amount of free space in the “C:” drive only. If the amount of free space available is very low, remove those files that are unnecessary and unwanted. Try to reinstall the updates again in your computer. If the issue was due to lack of free space available in the computer, you will now see that it has been resolved.
• Make sure that you do not lose the internet connection while trying to install the updates in your computer. Check whether there are updates available and then try to reinstall those updates that you were not able to install the previous time.
